…We decided to investigate the high hills above Bethlehem. The sun had just come up, and we wondered what we might encounter in the woods so close to the city.
The area was pretty degraded by invasive species and litter, but there was soon a little oasis as we climbed.
And that early morning light always dresses things up.
And then there was someone who seemed to be working on an art installation of sorts.
I found it interesting that someone decided to take the found objects dumped here and say something with them. It’s a bit crude, but I applaud the effort.
This may have been my favorite – an organic found object on a natural base.
As we walked I wondered if some native wildflowers might still have small outposts, trying to survive the invasion. And sure enough we ran across quite a few bloodroots, as well as a few Hepatica and Meadow Rue. Bravo to you little survivors! Way to fight back. And all the while the Rufous sided Towhees urged us to “Drink your teeeeeea!” And again, we had the early morning light!
